ServeQ is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Who We Are
ServeQ is a QR-based food ordering platform for movie theatres, operated by ServeQ (serveq.in). We provide technology that enables theatre customers to browse menus, place food orders, and make payments directly from their seats.
2. Information We Collect
When you use ServeQ to place a food order at a participating theatre, we collect:
- Mobile number — used to identify your order and enable staff to contact you if needed
- Seat number — used to deliver your order to the correct seat
- Order details — items ordered, quantities, and total amount
- Payment information — we do not store your card or UPI credentials; payment processing is handled by Razorpay or Paytm (our payment gateway partners), who have their own privacy policies
- Transaction ID — a reference number assigned by the payment gateway for order tracking and refund purposes
- Device and session data — session token to maintain your ordering session (stored temporarily, expires within 2 hours)
We do not collect your name, email address, or any government ID unless you voluntarily provide it.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected solely to:
- Process and fulfil your food order at the theatre
- Communicate your order status to theatre staff
- Process refunds if an order is cancelled
- Provide order confirmation and receipts
- Resolve disputes or support requests related to your order
- Improve the ServeQ platform and detect technical issues
We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or sell it to any third parties.
4. How We Share Your Information
Your information is shared only as necessary to fulfil your order:
- Theatre staff and management — your seat number, mobile number, and order details are shared with the theatre's staff dashboard to fulfil your order
- Payment gateways (Razorpay / Paytm) — payment processing is handled by our gateway partners; they receive transaction data necessary to process your payment
- No other third parties — we do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other parties
5. Data Retention
- Session tokens — expire automatically within 2 hours of your QR scan
- Order data — retained for a minimum of 12 months for accounting, dispute resolution, and refund processing purposes
- Payment records — retained as required by applicable financial regulations
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
- Payment credentials (gateway keys) are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
- Access to order data is restricted to authorised theatre staff only for their respective theatre
- We do not store payment card numbers or UPI PINs at any point
7. Cookies and Local Storage
ServeQ uses browser sessionStorage (not cookies) to maintain your ordering session during a single visit. This data is stored only on your device, is not accessible to us, and is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab.
We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.
8. Children's Privacy
ServeQ is intended for use by individuals aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Withdraw consent for data processing where applicable

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ServeQ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
